About Us

I spent my summers jumping on fertilizer bags in the back of my Granddad’s Purina Feed and Fertilizer store in Paris, Tenn. Little did I know that would set things in motion for a career in plant nutrition!

My family always had a big garden, so growing things was in my blood. Later, while I was raising kids, we had an organic landscape business (the smell of fish emulsion fertilizer will forever be seared in my memory!) and I enjoyed finding solutions to help improve plant health.

That prompted me to go back to Ohio State and get my degree in agricultural journalism and to a sales rep position with the old Terra company in the nursery industry in Lake County, Ohio, helping growers with disease management and maximizing fertilizer inputs.

But the golf business beckoned, and that has been my path ever since. I was fortunate to work with Joel Simmons at Earthworks and learned so much about the importance of soil management and providing what the plant needs organically. Then I was introduced to calcium silicate when I was hired to manage the turf division for Excell Minerals in 2005. I loved what silicon did for the resilience of plants, and I’ve been hooked for 20 years.

In 2010, I launched Silico Turf LLC and devoted myself to finding quality silicon products and identifying solutions and products that improve the turf but also make clients’ lives easier because they reduce their stresses. That has been the best part of my career. TENSiL has been a really exciting product, and the results are amazing. You can learn more about it here (LINK).

Today, my goal is to continue to identify high performing silicon products and continue to support the professional turf sector. I love this business, and I’m thrilled I’m still a part of it after all these years.
