TENSiL is the purest source of soluble silicon currently on the US market. When turf has sufficient levels of silicon, overall stress factors are greatly diminished. TENSiL REDUCES EXCESS TRANSPIRATION

Transpiration allows nutrients to be absorbed from the soil moving them into the roots and blades. If a plant is deficient in a nutrient, transpiration increases to pull more water and nutrients into the plant tissue. Once the nutrient requirement is met, transpiration is reduced. Grass plants are constantly transpiring, looking for silicon. But when not enough is present, the plant uses excess energy. With TENSiL in your program, your plant’s silicon needs are easily met and transpiration is reduced.

TENSiL BUILDS CELL WALL INTEGRITY

In turfgrass, silicon is found in multiple locations, including the cell wall.  Here it provides a foundation for efficient water and nutrient movement, resulting in healthy, uniform cells.  Without silicon, cells are more vulnerable to changes in water and nutrient availability, causing cells to shrivel and reducing blade integrity, tensile strength, and elasticity.  TENSiL maintains cellular water balance by:

  1. Reducing Na uptake from soils and
  2. Promoting osmolyte production in cells that maintains high turgor pressure.

This results in more resilient plants that can withstand abiotic stress.

TENSiL PROMOTES ROOT GROWTH

Silicon fosters root barriers, allowing higher nutrient absorption which feeds the growing roots. These barriers also help protect plants from saturated soils, allowing for root growth even during increasingly wet seasons. In dry conditions root barriers maintain water in the plant as the soil dries down, protecting the roots as your turf acclimates to summer conditions.

Here at ITHOF we host the only professional grass tennis tournament in the United States in July. It’s a time of the year that brings stressful environmental conditions with 10 grass courts in play 9 hours a day. We have thousands of spectators, workers and players on these historical grounds daily but I’m confident the turf will hold up because TENSiL is in my program.
